History

In May 2018 the General Synod of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia (ACANZP) decided to permit the blessing of same-sex marriages and civil unions, departing from the clear teaching of the Scriptures and historic Anglican doctrine and practice.  Many of those who could no longer remain part of the Province (of ACANZP), but wanted to remain Anglican, gathered together to prayerfully seek God’s guidance.  With the recognition, fellowship, and support of Gafcon, the formation of the CCAANZ as a new expression of Anglicanism is a response to General Synod’s decision as we have sought to follow God’s leading to share the good news of Jesus in these islands.

Safe Ministry Practice

Ministry to children and young people is vibrant and exciting work, and also greatly significant to the life of the church. Teaching children and youth about Jesus is kingdom work. It is a service to the children and youth, the church family, and to God himself that offers great opportunities, but also carries significant responsibilities for the wellbeing of the children and young people in our care. If we as a church take the teaching and leadership of children and young people seriously then we must do all we can to provide an environment that is safe from any form of harm. Our diocese has a Safe Ministry Blueprint with auxiliary resources for all our churches.
